Our river Thames cruises will take you beyond the hustle and bustle of city life and into the peaceful and ancient countryside of the Thames Valley. Our bases along the river provide the best options for weekly hire or short cruises. The towns and villages which you will meet along the way are lovely with lots of things to see and do. From Windsor to Oxford you will never be with out an interesting place to visit, be it an historical royal castle, a Roman ruin, a Victorian park or a family activity themed centre, the Thames is a perfect get-away from it all.

Day 1– Arrive at you designated base marina. You will be greeted with a very friendly welcome and given a tour of your boat. A class on the safety procedures and on how to use the boat will be provided for you. Then spend the next few hours exploring the surrounding waters and taking in the wonderful scenery full of rolling hills countryside. Tomorrow Oxford is your destination but you must make some headway today so start travelling north until you reach the pretty town of Abingdon.

Day 2 – Set out from Abingdon towards Oxford. The Oxfordshire countryside is beautiful around here. The bridges in Oxford are too low for cruisers so you may not reach the city centre, moor wherever there is availability and start exploring this fantastic place. Known as university town because of it’s two renowned universities. Both are open to visit and are very impressive. There is also a ‘hop on, hop off’ bus tour which we recommend and will make seeing the sights of Oxford all the more easier. This is a great place or shopping, sightseeing and food so enjoy your day.

Day 3 – Set out heading south, it will take a few hours to reach Wallingford and this a lovely town to visit full of winding streets, old churches and buildings. After exploring Wallingford continue south towards the pretty village of Pangbourne. This is the perfect place to moor your boat for the evening and the town has some lovely places to visit including some very nice riverside walks and the nearby magnificent Beale Park.

Day 4 – Today you will continue to head south to the bustling shopping town of Reading and the charming town of Henley on Thames. There are plenty of places to moor your boat when you reach Reading and the town is one of the UK’s top retail destinations. There is also lots of interesting places to visit here including the great Museum of Reading which has a full scale replica of the Bayeaux Tapestry and the Hutton and Palmers Gallery which makes for a very interesting visit. Henley on Thames is real boating paradise. The town is full of lovely restaurants and shops and one of its gems is the popular rowing museum. Henley is the place where the first of the famous Oxford v Cambridge boat races took place. Here is a great place to spend the night.

Day 5 – Windsor is our destination today. It will take a few hours to get here so do start early. The great Windsor castle is an attraction you will certainly want take in and tour can be arranged at the ticket booths outside. There is a very unique shopping pavilion located opposite the castle with all the major brands represented. For the children, Lego land is located nearby and if you are in the mood some walking and exploring the Great Windsor Park is a wonderful place to spend and afternoon.

Day 6 – Hampton Court Palace is your destination today. The fantastic example of Tudor extravagance (owned by Henry VIII) is one of the most popular attractions in London. It will take you 3-4 hours to reach here but the tour is well worth undertaking. After enjoying this wonderful experience you must start the long trip back to base. The popular town of Maidenhead will have some good mooring spaces for the night and is a beautiful place to spend you final evening on the Thames.

Day 7 – Spend the final few hours of your relaxing cruising holiday taking in the pleasant scenery for the last time. It will be very difficult to leave and you will surely want to come back but until then you must arrive at the marina and its time to depart.
